Struggling with ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, Headaches or other mental Issues?
Anybody who has experienced ADHD, dyslexia, autism, headaches or similar conditions knows how much energy it takes and how frustrating and painful it can be - especially when one is told, "You have to learn to live with it." That happened to the founder of the On Mental Health (OMH) charity who then started searching for an effective solution, which he found:

When it became apparent that many others had made similar experiences with insufficient results from regular treatment but great improvement from alternative treatments, watching from the sidelines was no longer an option. What started in 2005 as a private research initiative became the On Mental Health stichting/charity in 2009.
| To prevent others from going through the frustrating experiences so many of us have had and to make rapid progress, we are seeking your support. With your contributions, we will be able to improve and extend our initial list of treatments and move the Foundation for Rapid Progress forward (see below). The more support we get, the more quickly progress can be made.
Hence, we invite you to contribute through Facebook or LinkedIn (available soon; don't make things public that should be kept private!). You can also email us. For donations and other ways to help, click on the buttons at the right.

Foundation for Rapid Progress:
|
The main Parts
|
Status/Additional Information |
| Providing a list of treatments with good to strong indicators (or proof) for delivering (drastically) better treatment results. |
Under development; some treatments identified. |
| Creating assessment centres. |
Where clients can freely choose from multiple treatments, and from the latest status of ongoing research (data collection) within the assessment centre. |
| Providing a platform for collaboration for all parties involved. |
This Web page, Facebook, LinkedIn, lectures and, eventually, conferences. |
| Identifying, stimulating and financing high-priority research needs. |
Identified (among others): the exploration of capacity management techniques for treatments. |
| Exploring the talents/gifts of those with mental differences. |
Don't we all have mental differences? Did you know that Einstein, Newton and Darwin had substantial mental differences? |

Vision
Apparently, there are therapies that deliver excellent results. This provides opportunity for substantially reduced suffering, for cost reductions in health systems and even for a reduction in violence and crime.
Further opportunities for innovation and knowledge development emerge from the different/extraordinary abilities of those with various types of mental issues. Famous examples are Einstein, Newton and Darwin.
Goals
In the area of mental conditions/disorders such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism and asperger syndrome, dyscalculation, NLD (non-verbal learning difficulties), OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), ODD (oppositional defiant disorder), PDD (pervasive developmental disorder), depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, headaches, our goals are:
- To drastically reduce direct and indirect suffering through effective therapies and prevention
- To provide true freedom of treatment choice, including practical solutions for the cost issues
- To make the best possible use of different/extraordinary abilities while accepting unavoidable limitations (for the benefit of both the individuals and society)
This includes:
- Providing carefully gathered information on accepted and alternative treatments that have good indicators of treatment results
- Stimulating constructive collaboration from all involved (see target audiences) for rapid progress.
- Identifying, initiating, financing and/or coordinating innovative research
- Striving to preserve special talents/extraordinary gifts with minimal suffering and the best possible quality of life
Target Audiences
All involved:
- Those with a mental condition/disorder, parents and family
- Teachers, coaches and mentors
- Doctors, scientists and regular and alternative therapists
- Government, insurance companies and politicians
- Employers
Projects
- Short-term research: What do clients/patients say about their treatment results?
- Assessment centers - To help clients/patients find the most promising treatments; to provide up-to-date information by keeping records of treatment results and, thus, provide factual information for innovative scientific research
- Scientific research concerning dominance switches (for example, eyes) and neural growth (as capacity management techniques)
Leading Principles
- Those with a mental issue and their families come first.
- Body and brain are approached as a single system.
- The top priority is on the treatment result.
- There is openness to all treatments (alternative, innovative, natural, etc.).
- Less harmful approaches will be explored first (harmful approaches: surgical, animal research, etc.).
